In recent months the shortage of retail staff in the Netherlands has been in the news. The number of vacancies has risen to 33,000 during lockdown and is increasing every day, according to industry association InRetail. This poses a huge challenge for physical retail. Especially because the human factor often creates a distinctive experience and USP compared to other stores - and online shopping. Furthermore, helpfulness, service provision, expertise and information provision is most often an indicator for a higher Net Promoter Score (NPS) and Net Loyalty Score (NLS) for the store. In short, the store needs good staff!
In this whitepaper we dive into a group of non-desk working people in their twenties and thirties. We examined what this group considers important in an employer on the basis of five themes.
